The Izard County Consolidated School District is proud of the opportunities it offers its students. One of our programs that we are proud to sponsor is the “Cougar Pride” program. The “Cougar Pride” program is designed to encourage every middle and high school student to be at school every day and show proper self-discipline while at school. Students are rewarded for perfect attendance and good behavior each quarter. We also have a reward system for the benchmark and end of course exams.
Perfect attendance and good behavior-
For the first quarter, if a student successfully comes to school every day and doesn’t have to go to the office for any disciplinary action, he/she is entitled to an ice cream party.
For the second quarter if a student qualifies for a second time, he/she will receive a trip to a local restaurant for lunch and an ice cream party.
For the third quarter if a student qualifies for a third time, he/she will receive a “Cougar Pride” tee shirt and an ice cream party.
If the student qualifies all four quarters, he/she will receive a trip at the end of the year and an ice cream party.
Benchmark and End of Course Exams-
Every spring students will take either the benchmark or end of course exam. If a student scores advanced on one or more areas, he/she will receive a day off and a trip in the following school year. If a student scores proficient on one or more area, he/she will receive a trip during the following school year.
Reminder: Students who miss 15 minutes or more of a class period will be counted absent from that class which will disqualify them from the perfect attendance and good behavior “Cougar Pride” program for that quarter.
Occasionally, your child may have a photo in the local newspaper along with his/her name. If you do not want your child’s name or photo in the paper, please notify the principal’s office at the beginning of the year.
